Why It's OK To Only Want Your Baby's Father At The Birth

It's ok to only want your baby's father at the birth of your new baby. You're going to be doing a lot of hard work in that delivery room, and there are going to be a lot of people around you who are excited for you and want to share the moment with you. But it's also important to remember that this is an intensely personal experience—you don't need anyone else there. You just need someone who loves you and cares about you, who can support and encourage you throughout the process.

It is normal for women to feel a lot of pressure from family and friends about who should be present at their birth, but ultimately, it's only you who knows what will make YOU feel supported and comfortable during this time.

You don't need to justify your feelings about who will be in the room with you when you're giving birth; just know that whatever choice you make is valid, and it doesn't mean anything negative about how much value you place on the opinions or support of others.

This is your decision to make. If you want the father of your baby there, then you need to tell him that he's welcome. If he feels uncomfortable being there, then you two should talk about that and try to reach a compromise. But ultimately, only you can decide what your needs are in this situation, and he should support you in those decisions as should extended family members.

We'd love to know who you had in the delivery room with you. Head to our website to shop all your newborn essentials here.
