Baby Sleep Tips (0-3 Months)
Welcome, to Bullabaloo's baby sleep guide. We are focusing on your lovely little ones between 0 and 3 months. This phase is truly the wonder of newborn life, yet it can also be a challenging time as you navigate your baby’s sleep needs.
For this age bracket, it's important to remember that newborns sleep a lot, typically up to 16 to 17 hours a day. But the catch? They only do so in short bursts of two to four hours at a time, given their tiny tummies need frequent refuelling. Don't worry, we’re here to help with some baby sleep tips to guide you.
Tip 1: Recognise Sleep Cues
Babies at this age often show signs that they're tired. Look for cues like fussiness, yawning, looking away, and rubbing eyes. Catching these signals can help put your baby to sleep before they become overtired.
Tip 2: Swaddling
Swaddling can soothe and help your baby sleep. It mimics the snugness of the womb, providing comfort and security. Check out our swaddles for the cosiest swaddle experience and read our blog post all about How To Swaddle.
Tip 3: Create a Calm Environment
Maintain a peaceful, quiet setting for sleep times. Dimming lights and reducing noise can signal your baby that it's time to rest.
Tip 4: Establish a Bedtime Routine
Routine is key. Although it may be too early for a strict schedule, simple cues like a warm bath, a lullaby or a story can signal sleep time.
