How does a comforter help babies sleep?

A comforter provides consistent comfort that babies can access independently throughout the night. The familiar texture and scent help them settle and resettle during light sleep cycles without needing parental intervention. When can babies have a comforter?

You can introduce a comforter during supervised awake time from birth to build familiarity. For sleep, familiarise yourself with current safe sleep guidelines. Many parents introduce comforters around 4-6 months when babies can roll both ways, though the timing depends on your baby's development and your family's approach. Always choose a small, lightweight, breathable comforter without loose parts.

How do I wash the comforter?

Machine wash at 30°C and tumble dry on low. Our comforters actually get softer with every wash! We recommend washing before first use and having both comforters in rotation - one in use, one in the wash.

Why do babies love the satin edge?

Babies are naturally drawn to the silky, smooth texture of satin edging. Stroking the satin provides tactile comfort and sensory stimulation that helps them self-soothe. Is this safe for newborns?

Will my baby become too attached to it?

A comforter becomes a positive sleep association that helps babies feel secure and settled. Unlike dummies that can fall out and wake babies, a comforter stays with them through the night, supporting independent sleep and reducing wake-ups.

Can a comforter replace a dummy?

Yes! Many parents successfully transition from dummy to comforter. Unlike a dummy that falls out and causes night wakings, a comforter stays in the cot and is always within reach. It promotes genuine self-soothing and doesn't require weaning later. You can use both together initially, then gradually reduce dummy reliance whilst increasing comforter use.

These are brilliant. My (11 month) daughter had got very attached to muslin cloths and would cuddle up to them to sleep - but they were not safe to let her sleep with. I slowly introduced the Bullabaloo cloth along side her muslin and slowly over a month or so she got attached to the bullabaloo cloth. She snuggles up to them and will reach for it in the night if she stirs. Love them so bought 2 designs. They are brilliant comforts and feel safe.

My son absolutely love these! He was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate therefore having a dummy was no option. Once my Facebook had an advertisement came up of these, at first I was hesitant but thought no harm in trying. Originally, I brought the sleeping teddy bear with white satin. It took my son about a week to adjust having something to soothe and since then it’s been a game changer! This review is specific to this design. I ordered the polar bear design based on the email marketing which showed a deep navy design with navy trim. As you can see from the photo of the cloths I received, it’s a completely different fabric. A totally different colour; the polar bears are not the same. This isn’t a case of the colours looking different on different monitors. I ordered these as the email marketed them as a more grown up version, and my 4.5 year old still very much much loves them. I’ve been buying these since he was 6 months old, so I’m a fan of the product, but this design has really let me down. I feel the email and display photos on the product page are a complete misrepresentation of what they’re selling.
